Do you have a psychology degree and an interest in the psychology professions? Have you wondered what it would be like to put your degree and interest to use, and find out if a career in the psychology professions is for you? We are interested in widening the access to psychology so that we can become a more diverse and inclusive profession, reflective of our communities and wider workforce.
The Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) is a new role within our organisation. CAPs are a new addition to the Psychological workforce and support the wider NHS agenda to develop and expand the psychological provision.
A CAP is a semi-autonomous psychological practitioner working under the direct supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered clinical psychologist, within their scope of practice. CAPs are scientist practitioners who utilise psychological knowledge, research and theory to reduce psychological distress and to enhance psychological wellbeing in the clients they work with. They work with specific client groups in a range of services, acting as a resource of psychological skill and competence to a team of healthcare practitioners. They are trained to provide effective evidence based care to National and local guidelines and will manage a caseload and take responsibility for proactive care delivery decisions, within their scope of practice and under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. They will be trained to plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care. CAPs are expected to maintain a compassionate, caring and safe care environment
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations
Anyone with a psychology degree and interest in the psychology professions is invited to apply. We welcome people who identify with lived experienced associated with health, social, economic inequalities, diverse ethnic backgrounds and/or identify as a carer.
Please note, that these are clinical posts and will require that you attend the work base in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and surrounding area.
