Bar/general Assistant

**Full Time Bar Assistant Position available at the National Outdoor Centre, Plas y Brenin.**

As a National Outdoor Centre, Plas y Brenin develops the people that develop the outdoor sector - from instructors to centre managers to expedition leaders to NGB officers to policymakers. This includes developing inspiring coaches, instructors and leaders in adventure sport, be they volunteers or working professionally in the sector, to better support people, from all backgrounds, to get active in the outdoors.

By hosting conferences, symposiums and meetings, we bring together practitioners from across the UK (and beyond) to share learning, transfer good practice and raise standards. This inspirational venue, with a world-class reputation, is also committed to helping individuals nurture their skills and confidence for independent adventures.

Owned by Sport England, Plas y Brenin is managed on their behalf by the educational charity, the Mountain Training Trust.

**PRIMARY PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB**:
To deliver excellent customer service from the bar, ensuring product and service standards are met, and complying with bar policy, procedures and routines to achieve maximum operating efficiency. The post holder will play a key role working alongside the bar manager to maximise food and beverage sales and revenue to make the most of the potential of Plas y Brenin.

**DUTIES TO INCLUDE**:

- To engage and serve customers and respond to their requirements at the bar
- To provide an excellent standard of customer service, actively playing a part in creating an enjoyable atmosphere for all
- To follow all operating policies, procedures and working practices, including till management, hygiene and health and safety
- To assist in monitoring stock, ordering, managing costs and wastage, and carrying out checks so that the department is as cost effective as possible to meet financial targets
- To work with the bar manager to set, deliver, monitor and review performance against business plans
- To continuously look for opportunities to improve the customer experience and service provision in order to support the growth of Plas y Brenin
- To assist in the kitchen as and when required
- To help with the day-to-day management of the cellar
- To be reliable and timely with a friendly attitude
- Any other requests within reason

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Excellent people and customer service skills
- Experience of cash handling, adherence to policies and procedures
- To have a passion for the Hospitality and Catering industry
- A positive and energetic manner
- Experience in a bar environment
- An eagerness to learn and develop

**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**:
To work closely with other staff members at the centre as necessary to deliver the required level and standard of service. There will be some engagement with auditors, inspectors, consultants and suppliers of goods and services.
