At Eminox we designs and manufactures exhaust after-treatment systems, reducing emissions from heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Our customers are UK and international, supporting the aftermarket for our products and services.
The Commodity Buyer / Manager at Eminox will be responsible for all elements of commercial activity in relation to new and existing products and suppliers. This is a strategic role within the business, with responsibility for alignment of Procurement Strategy to the long-term development needs of the business. Contract understanding, and negotiation skills and experience are key. We purchase metal and steel for our manufacturing requirements UK and international site.
Overview of duties; buyer
- To lead cross functional sourcing teams relating to new product developments and sourcing projects, delivering the initiative efficiently and effectively
- Contract management of the supplier base, with negotiation and implementation of robust Long-Term Agreements for key strategic suppliers
- Implementation of a commodity approach to key spend areas to enable the business to make the right long-term sourcing decisions
- Generation and delivery of material cost savings initiatives to improve company profitability
- Providing regular consistent updates to the business on commodity pricing and influencers, cost impacts, opportunities and risks
- Advise the team and wider business where appropriate on changes in market trends, global value sourcing to inform supply chain strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, keeping the business aware of current events of importance and development opportunities
- Adherence to the documented supplier selection process to ensure compliance to business certification
- Adherence to the documented process and criteria for evaluation of supplier performance within all aspects of the business ensuring deviation from expected performance is managed in the most appropriate manner and any subsequent development requirement is progressed
About you:
- Previous experience in a purchasing role within a complex business using principles of ERP, we use IFS.
- Clear understanding of purchasing strategy and levers to generate best total cost
- Cross functional working with personnel from various functions including but not limited to Supply Chain and Operations, ideally spent within manufacturing, engineering, metal, components and steel based products. Trade experience would also be desirable.
- CIPS level 4 or 5 or equivalent education or track record within this background
- Relevant commodity expertise, managed budgets / spend of up to 10 million pounds, plus.
- Hands on and organised to manage multiple suppliers.
This role will suit an individual with strong commodity management experience across multiple product types, based at our Eminox site, located in Gainsborough. We are part of the Hexadex group of companies.
