**Contract type: Fixed term 12 months maternity cover**

**Salary: Up to £25,500 per annum (plus London Weighting of £3,344 if applicable)***

**What you’ll be doing**

As Youth Placements Advisor, you’ll lead on the recruitment and support of around 200 young people on British Red Cross placement projects across the UK each year.

You will manage and develop our voluntary placements programme and support the development of other key work which engages young people in short-term activity such as work experience, educational and paid placements.

Reporting to the Youth Strategy and Policy Manager, you will collaborate with other projects including student engagement, development opportunities for young volunteers, youth social action and externally funded programmes, with a key focus is to increase the diversity of people accessing placements.

**This role might be for you if**

You will either have experience of youth work, working with young people in a variety of settings, including supporting young people into employment and supporting those with additional support needs, or a level 3 qualification in youth work.

You have experience of working with young volunteers, an up-to-date knowledge of volunteering policy and practice, and experience of developing and running training programs for both volunteers and those who support them.

You have good project management experience; you’re organised and able to manage a busy workload with multiple priorities and deadlines with minimum supervision. You’ve got great interpersonal and teamwork skills, able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences, using a variety of media.

You have knowledge on how to promote diversity and equality in volunteering and employment opportunities and are commitment to promoting diversity and equality within the British Red Cross and living our values.

You have good general office skills that include experience of developing and reviewing policies, procedures and systems, report writing, and a working knowledge of Microsoft that including Word and Excel
