An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Business Support Officer to join the Medway Youth Justice Service.
The Youth Justice Service works closely with young people and their families to provide intervention services to curtail anti-social behaviour and to prevent youth crime. It assists victims of crime and where appropriate, includes them in the youth justice process to take part in a restorative justice programme.
You will be required to undertake and provide a range of specialist and general administrative duties including data support. This includes administrative tasks related to Youth Justice disposals, data entries including Key Performance Indicators, assistance in dealing with data requests, finances, coordinating, arranging and minuting meetings, maintaining accurate electronic and paper-based records.
You will also be responsible for reception duties, acting as first point of contact for the service, responding to general and statutory requests for information. Assisting in ensuring that service performance levels are met.
You should have experience of providing a comprehensive administrative support service to a team. You will have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and be experienced in taking high quality minutes. The role requires good teamwork, supporting colleagues during absences and unusually high volumes of work as well as the ability to work independently to meet the statutory needs of the service.
You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths, together with NVQ2 in Business Administration and/or equivalent experience.
The role is 37 hours per week, based at Strood Youth Centre, Montfort Road, Strood.
**In return we offer you**:
- Generous annual leave entitlement
- Generous local government pension scheme package
- Access to wider training and development qualifications
- Flexible working scheme
- Travel plan discounts
- Access to CAREFIRST advice & counselling service
- Employee discount scheme for national and local retailers
**Career Progression Framework**:
Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. This means that the salary you will be offered will be at level A unless, based on an assessment against the CPF criteria, you demonstrate that you are meeting the criteria of level B or C. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.
The person specification of a job profile is split into three levels:
Level B details the developed competencies that an individual who is practised in this role would be able to demonstrate and will be a progression of knowledge, experience and skills from level A.
Level C requires the highest level of competence and applicants would need to fully meet and demonstrate all aspects of the job profile, including qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience.
Youth Justice are seeking a Business Support Officer to join the team at level A. This is the entry point of the role, so you will need to be able to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, experience and skills to get you started, but you will be supported to develop in your role through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. All elements of level A listed within the person specification are essential. Through your induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF), which will help you to identify your areas of strength and any development needs.
