**Purpose of Post**
- To be responsible for the management of the nursery kitchen
- To organise, cook and prepare healthy balanced meals for children age 3 months to 5 years in accordance with the nursery menus, food policies and individual dietary requirements
- To give support to other personnel working in the Kitchen and be a good role model to the children.

**Responsible to**:
**Nursery Manager**

**Main Duties**
- Planning and preparation of food to provide meals in accordance with Jack and Jill Nursery’s menus and food policies
- Catering for all individual dietary requirements in line with parental guidance
- Ensure hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation.
- Maintain necessary kitchen procedures and records in accordance with Jack and Jill Nursery and Environmental Health policies and processes
- To undertake future and refresher training as appropriate
- Responsible for control, storage and rotation of kitchen stock
- Order food on line with Jack and Jill Nursery policies and within specified budget
- To contribute to the team effort of the nursery and to attend staff meetings and social events as and when required
- Liaise with the nursery Manager on the ordering of necessary kitchenEquipment
- To undertake any other reasonable catering duties as requested by the nursery Manager
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Proprietor/ Nursery Manager in accordance with the nursery’s business plan/objectives
- To use own initiative at all times.

**Essential Criteria**
- To communicate effectively through written and verbal communication
- Respect all cultures of colleagues, children and families
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Self-motivated and a positive attitude
- Manage own time
- Control food budget
- Order the shopping
- Attention to detail

**Qualifications**
- Level 2 Hygiene Certificate
- Experience: 1 years catering experience
- DBS Certificate required
- First Aid

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £10.00 per hour
