Company Description

NEC Software Solutions is headquartered in the UK and operates around the world. We employ more than 3,000 people in six countries, building software and services to get our customers better outcomes. We traded as Northgate Public Services until 1 July 2021 when we rebranded to align with our owners, NEC. Most of our subsidiary companies did too (APD Communications, i2N, EMIS Care and Charter Systems) but our service design agency still trades as Snook.

We’ve been part of global tech company NEC Corporation since January 2018. Find out more about our business on the Corporate Responsibility and Performance pages.

NEC is a UK leader in connected healthcare software and services. Our solutions are widely used across every major UK healthcare setting, from primary and community care to high street pharmacies, secondary care and specialist services. We deliver health screening programmes across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

NEC Care, part of the NEC Health division, delivers the national diabetic eye screening programme. Our mission, vision and values are to provide people-centric services that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of those we serve by working to achieve excellence in service delivery.

BSW DESP provides retinal screening clinics and image grading to people with diabetes in Bath & NE Somerset, Salisbury, Swindon and Wiltshire. We are commissioned by Public Health England to provide retinal screening on behalf of the NHS and our service is compliant with the National Service Framework (NSF) and National Screening Committee
(NSC) guidance, standards and objectives.

**Job Description**:
**An opportunity has arisen to join the Bath & NE Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire eye screening programme (BSW DESP). We are looking for someone to join the screening team covering clinics across North & West Wiltshire. This is a full-time position on a fixed term 12 month contract.**

**We are particularly keen to hear from people who can give an immediate start and have past eye screening experience.**

Our screeners are the heart of NEC Care spending time on the ground, helping our patients. As a screener, you'll run local clinics for our patients and photograph their eyes to assess for diabetic retinopathy. We'll need you to be empathetic and able to talk to service users every day. You'll be supported undertaking your training, but once completed will be working largely unsupervised in a pressured environment, so a cool head is essential

This role is based in the North and West of Wiltshire, covering clinics in a number of locations between Trowbridge, Chippenham and Swindon. There may be the need for you to travel further afield, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required.

**Qualifications**:
**This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to join the healthcare sector, has a great sense of customer service and great interpersonal skills.**

**Who you'll be?**

We want to make sure you are set for success. This isn't all about your skills and that is why we would love to talk to you even if perhaps you don't fit all the below.
- customer focused with brilliant interpersonal skills
- willingness to learn - as we'll put you through the necessary qualification
- organised and able to prioritise tasks
- good problem-solving skills
- able to work under pressure
- any previous experience working with the public is ideal
- a full driving licence and preferably your own transport (clinic times can vary and early morning collection of equipment is occasionally involved in the role, which cannot always be facilitated with local public transport)
