Consultant Haematologist with Interest in Lymphoma

This post is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic Haematology Team at UHS. We are looking for a team player with an interest in lymphoma and clinical trials, with an enthusiasm for managing inpatients and outpatients with haematological disorders. The post holder will work as part of the lymphoma and myeloma teams alongside other colleagues with specialist interests.
The successful applicant will join our team of haematologists specialising in haemato-oncology, immune haematology, haemostasis and haemoglobinopathies. UHS provides a full range of therapies for patients with haematological conditions and is a forerunner in participation in clinical trials, as well providing level 4 care for the Central South Coast region.

Your Responsibilities
**What you’ll do**:
The post holder will be expected to actively participate as a member of the UHS Haematology team, with a specific focus on lymphoma and clinical trials, entailing:
Within the UHS lymphoma and myeloma teams
- Management of patients with lymphoma, lymphoid malignancies, CLL and related disorders in the inpatient, day case and outpatient setting
- Management of patients with myeloma in the outpatient and day case setting
- Inpatient attending on a 1:4 basis covering lymphoma and lymphoid malignancies with support from subspecialty colleagues
- To discuss cases as appropriate at the Southampton leukaemia and myeloma MDTs and lymphoma MDTs
- Active involvement in the recruitment and management of patients within clinical trial
**Within the UHS Haematology Service**:
- Undertaking the triage of new referrals and advice and guidance to primary care and the wider trust
- Review of blood films and bone marrow samples
- Participation in the laboratory diagnosis of haematological malignancie
- Lead on the strategic and operational development of clinical trials for the whole haematology department
**Interactions with other departments**:
- Contributing to the non-resident out of hours consultant cover for combined haematology and general haematology
**Interaction within the region**:
- Active collaboration with other colleagues in the region through MDT and network wide working
- Development of regional diagnostic and referral pathways in collaboration with other colleague
**Teaching and Training**:
- All consultants are expected to actively participate in teaching and training of junior medical and nursing staff and allied health professionals
- All consultants are expected to clinically supervise junior medical staff
**What we’re looking for**:
A dynamic team player with an interest in Myeloma and Liaison Haematology. Requirements for the role include:
- CCT haematology, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT on date of interview
- MRCP and FRC Path (or equivalent)
- An appropriate level of clinical experience and competence in clinical and laboratory haematology to practice independently at consultant level.
