**Role Statement for Fitness Instructor at the Shrewsbury Club**

**_1. _**_Who am I doing this role for? _**
- Members
- Guests
- Spa Visitors
- Club Manager
- Club Owners

**_2. _**_What does it look like if my role is done well? _**
- The gym team all greet members and guests to the club in a friendly manner.
- All classes on the timetable run on time or an alternative is given should there be sickness/absence - this must be communicated.
- Gym equipment is well maintained with a weekly and monthly schedule of maintenance checks completed and counter checked.
- Gym equipment and areas are clean at all times.
- All club and gym events are promoted verbally to members and guests.
- Noticeboards are up to date and correct.
- Staff are in uniform at all times.
- All H&S checks are complete in line with company policies.
- Member’s inductions and reviews are completed regularly and the new member journey is completed.
- Studios and equipment are clean and safe including storage areas.
- Members are engaged on the gym floor via a number of activities including their programme, personal training and regular gym challenges.

**_3. _**_What are my main tasks? _**
- To assist all aspects of member service, promoting high service standards within the club at all times and within company guidelines.
- To provide inductions, reviews and gym programmes of members (minimum Level 2 NVQ in Gym Instruction or similar certificate will be required as proof).
- To deal efficiently and courteously with members queries both in person and on the telephone especially new members.
- To work to the gym rota that reflects the needs of the business and reflects the attendance to the club.
- To complete daily and monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules for the gym and studios.
- To be aware of and promote a group exercise timetable that is current and reflects member’s needs.
- To actively teach a minimum of two Group Exercise Classes (ideally this would be Spin and a selection of Les Mills classes)
- To be aware of and promote the virtual class timetable and kids activity timetable.
- To promote a schedule of gym challenges that are inclusive for all levels and motivational. This can be in any form but should include MyZone, Swimtag or the Wellness system as often as possible.
- To ensure you update your skills and knowledge on a regular basis (at least annually).
- To report any damaged or worn out equipment and to report maintenance faults as quickly and effectively as possible to reduce member impact.
- To ensure the gym desk is clear of clutter.
- To organise workload in order of priority and importance to the company.
- To attend department meetings and any training (Lifeguard for example).
- To comply with all requirements of the Health and Safety Management Manual.
- To carry out any other duties that may be requested by management.

**_6. _**_What will equip me to do this role? _**
- Action plans and Objectives agreed with the Fitness Manager.
- Mentoring and support from your Line Manager and/or Club Manager as necessary.
- Training in
- house or externally.
- Regular 121 meetings with feedback and goal setting

**Salary**: £7.50-£9.50 per hour
