**Grants Officer** We are looking for an experienced Grants Officer to join an important charity that helps keep local communities surviving and thriving. **Position**: Grants Officer **Location:** Leicester / Hybrid homeworking- One mandatory Monday morning team meeting in the office then the rest of the time can be worked from home or from offices, as preferred - some travel will be required for funding fairs, group visits and other meetings. **Hours:** Full-time - 37 hours per week **Contract:** Permanent **Salary:** £28,000 per annum **Closing date: **Tuesday 13 th June **Benefits: **8% pension contribution after 1 year’s service, flexible and hybrid working available and 25 days holiday plus 10 Bank Holidays. **About the role:** As Grants Officer, you will work closely with one other Grants Officer, as well as with the CEO, the team, and the Grants Panel Trustees. The two Grants Officers share the workload of managing the grant-giving of donors and funders to achieve their giving aims, while also meeting the needs of local charitable groups and the communities they serve. The organisation currently manages around 50 grant giving funds, most named and directed by families, individuals, companies, and public sector bodies e.g., the NHS, government, and the National Emergencies Trust. They have well-established grant giving processes and plan to keep increasing their impact and support of local communities. They are a place-based funder. A consistent presence in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, preferably with experience in the voluntary sector in the area, and consistent access to personal transport, are important. **Key responsibilities will include:** - Look after a “caseload" of donor funds; some small, straightforward, and/or part of the general Making Local Better Fund, and some larger and more complex. - Help manage the year-round, general Making Local Life Better Fund, which combines a number of donor funds to give responsively to many needs. - Maintain and develop the organisation’s knowledge and reach to local charitable groups, via visits, workshops, briefings, and other methods. - Contribute to quarterly Grants Trustee Panels, reporting and reviewing. - Manage the organisation’s grant-giving and your own administrative needs by maximising the CRM system (a tailored version of Salesforce), and Microsoft Office tools. - Continue the review of processes, to reduce administrative burden on the organisation and groups, balancing safeguarding (of money and people) and maximising impact. - Develop the Advisory Group and pool of assessors and panellists. - Develop/maintain relationships with external stakeholders e.g., district councils, infrastructure groups, other funders, 360 Giving, and the Community Foundation network, for local and national intelligence to inform donors and grant giving. **About you:** The Grants Officer will have strong communication and teamwork skills as you will work closely with all staff in the small team, as well as with trustees and other stakeholders. You will have the ability to manage sometimes competing demands and workloads constructively. **Key skills required to succeed in this role include:** - Considerable experience in grant-giving in the local charitable, voluntary and community sector, particularly smaller grants (£1,000- £10,000). - Excellent “people" skills; you need to be very organised, but this is not a purely administrative role; you will work with a range of donors, funders, and groups. - A strong understanding of inclusion, equity and diversity, and the ability to work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds, proactively seeking to include eligible groups from all areas in the city and county. - Skill in writing and summarising information. - Ability to research relevant information and keep up with key developments. **About the organisation:** The organisation is a charity that set up and manages grant-giving funds for families, individuals, and companies. They also deliver public sector grant programmes and reinvigorate dormant funds. They gave £1.3m in grants last year groups, helping keep local communities surviving and thriving. They work on a hybrid model, with mandatory Monday team meetings in person, and then working at home or at their small offices as you prefer, with external meetings as required. You’ll have access to the national network of Community Foundations.
