Financial Reporting Accountant

Trinity House Group is pleased to be partnering with a longstanding Service based client in their search for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join their central finance team. The role will suit a technically-focused Qualified Accountant/Auditor who isinterested in joining one of the Midlands most respected employers. Based on the outskirts of Birmingham City Centre an average of 2 days a week, you will be given flexibility to manage your own time and work from home for the remainder of the week.
This is a key role, working for the Financial Controller, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and accounting requirements, regulations, and submissions.
**Main duties**
- Supporting the production of Group financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP requirements and all other relevant accounting regulations.
- Working closely with the external auditors and internal Finance teams, to produce a timetable of activity.
- Ensuring throughout the year a timetable of monthly activity to check the balance sheet is actively managed and issues are identified and resolved in an efficient manner.
- Provide technical accounting advice as required. This may be to support strategic projects or senior management discussions.
- Lead the completion of several regulatory financial returns and smaller funding audits.
- Produce a monthly balance sheet for management reporting and assist with forecasting and variance analysis throughout the year.
- Working with the Capital Accountant, support and improve the capital reporting and forecasting processes.
- Develop corporate financial reporting to make the most effective use of available reporting tools, standardising requirements, automating reports where possible and ensuring adequate control points.
**Competency Requirements & Professional qualifications**
- A qualified chartered accountant with a recognised professional qualification and experience (ideally ACA with an audit background)
- The ability to analyse complex financial data and to communicate the output to a diverse range of audiences.
- Thrives in a changing environment and able to work collaboratively to anticipate and deliver change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate persuasively with people at all levels, including non-financial audiences.
- Project management skills with the ability to co-ordinate various areas of Finance to deliver the statutory and regulatory finance requirements.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn in-house systems.
