Culture and Belonging Lead
Here at VoiceAbility we’ve been supporting people to have their say in decisions about their health, care, and wellbeing for almost 40 years. We make sure people are heard when it matters most.
We want this to be as true internally as it is externally. To this end, we are seeking a Culture and Belonging Lead to help us on our journey. It’s a really exciting time to be joining as we embark on our culture change programme. We recognise that change is required across all levels of our organisation and that this will take strong individual and collective leadership, with the successful applicant playing a leading role.
We know that we need to challenge ourselves to continue to change and improve. We need to harness the individual strengths of our team to stand together in opposition to all forms of discrimination by action and evidence and not just by words.
With increasingly remote working environments, we must also consider how we can enable a greater sense of belonging. Our teams need to be able to work in collaborative ways outside of their usual environments and to be able to feel part of a wider organisational culture.
We’d love for you to come and join us on our journey.
This role is home-based, with occasional travel to support business need.
**About us**
VoiceAbility is an independent charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy and involvement services. We deliver a wide range of service contracts funded by local authorities, health trusts and other voluntary and private sector organisations.
**About the role**
You will be responsible for supporting cultural change at VoiceAbility, with particular focus on setting the Belonging agenda, ensuring inclusion, diversity, equity, and equality are securely established within the organisation. This person must be a credible EDI expert who can inspire and influence our Belonging agenda. The role will include (but not be limited to):
- Working in partnership with VoiceAbility’s leadership and employee groups to inform and steer our cultural change and Belonging activities.
Developing and delivering projects and programmes ensuring these are impactful
- Supporting our Employee Resources Groups (“ERG”) development from their current early state to mature and established forums.
- Responsible for the ongoing development of the National Employee Forum to help it achieve its stated aims.
- Playing a key role in the design and delivery of employee events and conferences which will engage, empower and integrate employee voice across the organisation on strategic Culture and Belonging initiatives.
- Supporting the Director of People by leading cultural change through the development of values, behaviours and strengths to bring to life this change across the organisation and for each individual employee or volunteer.
- Modelling and implementing initiatives that support open discussions, shared learning, and a culture where Belonging and inclusion considerations become fully embedded in all areas of our work, internally and externally.
**About you**
We are seeking an individual with previous experience of bringing about impactful EDI or cultural change programs in a collaborative manner.
It is also essential that you have previous experience of working with Employee Groups and supporting the development of ‘Employee voice’ within an organisation. To do this, you will be skilled in advising and influencing relationships with all levels of management and colleagues to achieve results, using your strong interpersonal skills and Emotional Intelligence.
**What will you receive?**
You will have plenty of opportunities to enhance your abilities and will make a real difference every day.
You will also receive:
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
- 5% employer pension contribution
- Salary sacrifice pension scheme
- Separate Life Assurance Cover
- Staff discount scheme including retail discounts, entertainment, holidays etc
- Discounted Gym Membership; Employee Assistance programme.
- Supportive working environment fostering a good work/life balance.
