Curo, a leading housing association in Bath, is seeking a committed individual to take on the role of Young Parents Support Worker, to join the Young Persons team, which forms part of the care and support element within Curo.

Young Person homelessness is a growing issue in the UK. Supporting young people who have experienced homelessness is a rewarding job, where you can make a positive difference every day. Curo’s young parents service provides family support to 6 families living in temporary supported accommodation for up to 2 years, to live independently and build a successful future.

A passion for working with both young people and families is essential for this role.

Curo’s Young Persons Services team are motivated, committed, and flexible in their roles supporting young people and families. The team are friendly, supportive, fun and compassionate. **What you'll be doing**

As a Young Parents Support worker, you will work with young people who
- Have become parents at a young age and, have experienced homelessness.
- You’ll support them to engage with the appropriate services and multiple social care professionals, such as social services, healthcare professionals, and empower them to fulfil their potential.
- Being an advocate and making sure the young parents voices are heard.
- May have experienced poor mental health, drug, alcohol, domestic abuse, trauma, and financial difficulties, working in partnership with your team and other professionals to identify and manage safeguarding cases to be able to take effective supportive action.
- Need to maintain their tenancies and help prepare them for the future. You’ll work with diverse partner agencies to identify opportunities for young people to move on successfully into sustainable, independent housing.

**More about you**

To be great at what you do, you’ll need to be able to get stuck in, knowing every day will be different. This might mean one day you are working with a young person having a crisis, the next you are building a bed for a new customer or participating in a resident involvement event or workshop.

The successful Young Parents Support Worker will ideally have the following skills and background:

- You will enjoy working with young people and supporting young parents to meet their goals.
- You’ll be able to build effective relationships with a wide range of people including customers and colleagues, with an ability to influence and negotiate.
- You will be able to work effectively, without judgement, but with a strong sense of professional boundaries.
- You’ll be comfortable with dealing with challenging conversations, remaining confident and firm, whilst being respectful and considerate.
- You’ll have the skills to listen to and recognise what it is that our customers really want and be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes.
- You’ll have strong administrative skills and experience of writing reports and maintaining accurate records.
- You will understand the need for support planning, risk assessment and inspiring young people to recognise and achieve their goals.
- You’ll have good resilience and an understanding of the issues faced by young people living in supported housing.

**When and where you'll be doing it**

You will be able to work Monday to Friday, with some team agreed flexibility based on our customers’ needs. The Pathways based team work 11am-7pm on Thursday to run a cooking night with the young people.
