Job description

The post holder will provide support to the Field Survey Co-ordinator, to help ensure that all survey activities undertaken for the England Peat Map (EPM) are efficiently planned, organised, and executed. They will need to work flexibly according to potentially rapidly changing survey needs and circumstances brought about by weather, access arrangements, staff absences, and a host of other factors. Their duties will be varied and include a variety of logístical and co-ordination tasks, working with a wide range of staff across a growing area of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support the co-ordination of all field surveyors working on the England Peat Map project across multiple teams, contracts, and survey types, including planning survey trips and allocating survey sites to survey teams.
- Work with survey co-ordinators across the NCEA and wider organisation to identify and realise survey integration opportunities and align protocols and approaches.
- Manage EPM field survey equipment and its distribution, use, and maintenance.
- Support the development and testing of field survey protocols and mobile data capture apps.
- Provide administrative support to field surveys including arranging access permissions for some sites, handling soil samples and lab analysis results data, and administration of the mobile data capture app back-office systems and supporting data.
- Support and provide training and training materials for field surveyors.
- Collate and deliver feedback from surveys to develop the tools and protocols we use to complete surveys.
- Provide other support for EPM field survey activities as directed by the EPM Field Survey Co-ordinator.
