**_Our Purpose_**

The Education Transport Service is responsible for managing the council’s home to school transport services for mainstream pupils and more than 450 children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) each day.

You would play a vital role, as part of the small in-house fleet and driver team that transports children with SEND to one of the local special schools, ensuring that they arrive at school/home safely and on time.

**_ Your Role_**
Our fleet vehicle is an automatic, long-wheel-based wheelchair accessible Treka.

Our Drivers transport children with SEND from their homes to a local special school at the start and end of the school day, ensuring their safety at all times. You'll also be carrying out daily checks on your allocated vehicle, keeping it clean and safe for loading/unloading wheelchair users and using special equipment, as well as, securing passengers using a range of restraint systems.

**This role is term-time only**

**_About You_**

Recent experience of driving larger vehicles - such as a 16-seater minibus (preferably with automatic transmission) will be advantageous.

Our Transport Drivers are flexible and creative with the ability to adapt in challenging situations. They can engage, communicate effectively and build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, such as children with SEND, parents and school staff.

**This role is a frontline role**_ (the vehicles are kept at the Doughty Road depot, Grimsby but the main element of the job is driving, transporting pupils within the borough)_
