Apprentice Painter and Decorator

Due to continuing growth of the business, Stonewood Builders Ltd require a Trainee/Apprentice Painter and Decorator to join the team. Applicants must have a full UK driving license and their own vehicle as it will be necessary to travel to various sites.

Stonewood Builders Ltd are an award-winning builder of high-quality building projects, offering exceptional service and a commitment to excellence for 50 years. You will be working on a wide variety of projects ranging from modern construction to restoration of Grade 1 listed buildings.

Daily duties will involve:

- Provide assistance to other painters and decorators
- Preparation of surfaces and level off uneven areas
- Preparation of materials
- Strip off old wallpaper or layers of paint
- Fill holes and cracks and make sure surfaces are level
- Cover surfaces with primer and undercoat
- Application of coats of paint using brushes and rollers
- Hanging of wallpaper
- Adding special finishes like stains, varnishes or marbling
- General labouring duties and helping to maintain a clean and tidy site

Good time keeping, communication skills and a positive attitude to work and learning are essential to successfully fulfil this role.

In return, you will be assigned a mentor who you will work closely with and learn from. Following successful completion of your probationary period, we will enrol you on to an NVQ Level 2 Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship course with a local college and will continue to support you through your course and beyond.
