West Yorkshire Police, the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (YatH RSSS), is looking to recruit an Identification Database Officer to be based at Calder Park in Wakefield.
As a member of the Regional Identification Bureau, you will be part of a small specialist team processing, researching and identifying fingerprint and footwear samples from custody units across the Yorkshire and the Humber region.
Using your skills of pattern recognition and visual comparison of fingerprints and shoe patterns, you will ensure that records are correctly attributed and maintain the integrity of the associated national databases. Your aptitude to recognise patterns and make such comparisons will be assessed prior to interview.
Additionally, the role involves taking fingerprints from members of the public to provide evidence of identity for visa purposes and for the UK Disclosure and Barring Service, therefore, experience of dealing with people and handling payments may be advantageous.
Once fully trained, there will be opportunities to train other police personnel in associated aspects of the role.
This role is not suitable for agile working owing to the dependence on computer systems that are only accessible in the workplace and the requirement to physically take the fingerprints of others.
