The purpose of the role is to support the Compliance Team in ensuring that the Society complies with internal and external policy and regulation. This includes undertaking compliance reviews and quality assurance, and reporting to the business on the outcomes of those reviews. In addition, working with the Compliance Manager, to produce regulatory horizon scanning to alert the Society to up and coming regulations which require action.

This role is hybrid, with circa 3 days each week to be in our Stafford office

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Horizon Scanning**_
- Undertake horizon scanning including issuance of the Regulatory Update to the business.
- Maintain the Publication Tracker ensuring that all relevant publications are captured.
- Track the actions provided by the business, ensuring that updates are received from the respective owners in a timely manner.
- Provide updates for Committees / Board as directed by the Compliance Manager.
- Update the Horizon Scanning Procedure Guide and Publication Tracker as required
- **Management Action Tracker**_
- Maintain the management action tracker to monitor the progress and completion of agreed-upon compliance monitoring and internal audit actions, in addition to Horizon Scanning actions.
- Populate Symbiant with the actions from both compliance monitoring reports and internal audit reports, and Horizon Scanning.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the actions taken are thorough, timely and cover all aspects of the finding / publication action.
- Prepare and deliver accurate MI reports on action statuses and outcomes to relevant committees / Board, as directed by the Compliance Manager.
- **Compliance Monitoring Plan**_
- Complete the scheduled activities on the Compliance Monitoring Plan in timely manner, managing time and conflicting priorities appropriately, as directed by the Compliance Manager.
- Complete Compliance Monitoring reports and scoring to the documented standards outlined within the Compliance Monitoring Methodology.
- Liaise with Executive, Heads of Department and relevant colleagues in scoping and planning reports.
- Compile reports to the standards under the methodology and agreeing findings into timely and effective actions to manage risk under the Risk Management Framework.
- Input / Oversight of accurate actions into Symbiant and conducting action tracking to completion/closure.
- Report overdue actions to relevant governed committees and stakeholders.
- Complete ad-hoc reviews at the request of the Executive / Chief Risk Officer as required.
- **Quality Assurance Monitoring**_
- Assist the Compliance Manager with the development of second-line quality assurance of first-line monitoring, providing support to the business through its implementation.
- Undertake the monitoring of first-line activities, ensuring that controls are operating effectively.
- Prepare reports containing the details of the outcome of the QA for review by the Compliance Manager.
- **General Duties - Business as Usual**_
- Contribute to the compliance review of the following matters as directed by the Compliance Manager:

- new product launches
- product updates and changes
- financial promotions
- marketing publications
- policy updates
- Provide guidance and support to first-line business areas on compliance-related matters, facilitating a strong compliance culture throughout the organisation.
- **Skills & Experience**_
- Ability to analyse complex information and data.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, ensuring that compliance activities are prioritised and executed efficiently.
- Skilled in writing clear and concise reports and communications
- Ability to manage stakeholders including Board members, auditors and colleagues.
- Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks within the organisation.
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements applicable to building societies.
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative in a small team environment.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
