Working within Sweco’s Energy, Water and Environment Division, reporting to the Carbon Team Lead, this exciting **Graduate Carbon Consultant** role involves assessing whole life carbon emissions from a wide range of project designs across all Sweco sectors, and supporting organisations in quantifying their carbon emissions. All with a view to bringing about measurable improvements supporting our clients as they transition to a net zero economy.
**In this role you will be responsible for**:
- Undertaking detailed carbon emission calculations (embodied, operational and end-user) on a range of infrastructure and buildings projects.
- Producing technical design deliverables (calculations, drawings, assessments, etc) to achieve low carbon solutions.
- Clearly and concisely reporting results, including contributions to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Climate chapters.
- Consulting with design teams to investigate carbon reduction opportunities.
- Supporting businesses with carbon reporting and decarbonisation strategies.
- Providing regular progress feedback to the team leader to assist in project delivery.
- Ensuring tasks are carried out and completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets.
- Working in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required to deliver project requirements.
**To be successful in this role, you will**:
- Have a science or preferably engineering based academic background.
- Be able to demonstrate your commitment to carbon reduction.
- Understand the role of climate change prevention in a wider sustainability context.
- Be highly numerate and have strong report writing and communication skills.
- Have a good knowledge of climate change science, targets and policy.
- Be familiar with carbon management methodologies and standards such as PAS 2060, PAS 2080, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14064.
- Be familiar with sustainability accreditations such as BREEAM or CEEQUAL (preferred).
**Professional Membership and Qualifications**:
- First or Upper Second Class Degree.
- Be prepared to work towards formal training with a suitable professional body.

- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Inquisitive, enthusiastic, diligent and determined.
- Able to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and to produce reports in clear English.
- Able to organise and prioritise own workload to ensure that timescales are met.
- Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions.
- Take responsibility for personal development and enable and support the learning of others.
- Project a professional image to clients and colleagues..
- Able to work collaboratively with others to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors
- Demonstrate pride in work, through accurate, timely delivery.
