We have vacancies in Scarborough for HGV Refuse Drivers.

**The role**

Based at our Scarborough depot, the rounds cover the Yorkshire coast from Staithes, Whitby, Scarborough to Filey. You will be provided with routes on a weekly basis, where you will need to safely navigate your vehicle and crew through, ensuring that residents obtain the excellent and friendly service they expect.

Your role as our Refuse Driver is a hugely important one as you will be on the front-line of a key service. The role is one that can naturally lead onto further supervisor or operational management roles, or further development opportunities to move into another of our vast services. You will be working in a supportive environment with regular supervision and many staff benefits.

Shifts are Monday to Friday with the occasional weekend working for which you receive a £30 weekend allowance.

**What you will bring**

You must have a Category C driving entitlement / HGV Licence, some knowledge and experience of operating a large goods vehicle and a focus and knowledge of safe working practices and general Health and Safety principles.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Operating o-licence vehicles in and around the county
- Supervising small crews in your dedicated area of the county
- Responsible for the safe operation of Large Goods Vehicles [LGV] up to 32t.
- Ensuring the vehicle is clean and in good working order.
- Collecting residual waste, garden waste, food waste or recyclable materials from domestic and commercial properties.
- To take ownership over issues and be responsible for accurate reporting accidents, acting as the appointed person in relation to first aid.

Typical working days and hours currently vary between different areas of the new council, but you need to be prepared to start early. Some weekend and bank holiday working may be required.
