Live-in Care Assistant

Arbour Companions and Care is a young and exciting company located in Bagshot High Street, we are rapidly growing and are looking for Live in Care assistants for our expanding client base.

This role is for carers who enjoy helping people and want to make a difference to their lives. A live-in carer promotes independence and supports adults who have challenges with their daily activities of living. A good live-in carer has a friendly and caring approach and is able to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds

To provide care and support personalised to each client in line with their care and support plan and in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements.

To follow agreed policies, procedures and agreed standards.

To support the client with their activities of daily living in line with their personalised care and support plan

To meet the personal care needs of clients in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

**Live-in care tasks**

Supporting activities of daily living

Establishing a working relationship with clients in order that the carer understands their client’s specific needs and wishes as well as providing companionship.

Helping clients with daily personal care such as washing, dressing, undressing, bathing, using the toilet, meal, and drink preparation, feeding themselves Helping to organise recreational activities as required.

Helping clients with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including promotion of continence.

Assisting clients in the use of equipment to promote independence.

Assisting the client with moving and positioning

Supporting the promotion of mental and physical health of clients by talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them activities such as reading writing, hobbies, and interests of a recreational nature.

Supporting the client with taking medication or administering medication according to the care plan.

**End of Life care**

Caring for clients who have reached the end of their life and wish to remain at home.

**Household tasks**

Carrying out general household tasks such as housework, laundry, and shopping

Making and changing beds, tidying rooms, and emptying commodes as appropriate.

Housework to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Laundry, ironing and arranging for mending/replacement of client’s clothing.

Prepare and serve meals, drinks and snacks to clients.

Setting the table or tray, and tidying up after meals

Answering the door and greeting visitors with courtesy and respect.

**Professional liaison**

Working with other health and social care professionals in order to share accurate and timely information so that the most appropriate care for the client can be sourced.

Professional manner and presentation

Good spoken and written English, ability to record information accurately.

Reliable and punctual

Ability to use own initiative and to multi
- task.

Ability to lone work

Ability to manage own stress levels.

Ability to communicate tasks effectively.

Experience of working within policies and regulatory requirements.

Ability to manage conflict

**Desirable Qualities**

6 months’ experience in similar role

Experience working with the elderly.

Experience of working with people with different needs and levels of complexity.

Full driving licence and insurance to travel to Clients’ homes in the community.
