Bury, United Kingdom Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Irwell Unit at Fairfield General Hospital has a new and exciting opportunity for an Activity Coordinator. The unit is a 48 bedded ward specifically designed to care for adults of working age patients living with severe and enduring mental health illnesses.

The team at the Irwell Unit is a very friendly one and we are therefore looking for someone who is cheerful, outgoing and compassionate, we are looking for someone who is naturally creative and has a genuine enthusiasm for the people we care for. We are looking for someone who is well organised and who has had experience in working within an inpatient hospital environment. You need to be a team player as well as be able to work autonomously with the patients on and off the ward.

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check.

As an Activity Coordinator you will be responsible for organising and creating a varied activities programme, from organised hobbies to group events, all of which will promote and maintain independence, choice and dignity for our patients.

You will be expected to get to know our patients, their likes and dislikes, their interests and their life stories so that you can deliver group activities that are tailored to the needs of the service users.

You will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, which consists of Consultants, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists.

Your role will deliver an activity driven program through both 1:1 and small group work. The role involves taking a lead in planning and providing a range of activities that promote health, well-being and cognitive stimulation, so there is lots of scope for new groups and projects.

We are proud to provide high quality mental health and learning disability services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester - Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside and Glossop.

Our vision is for a happier and more hopeful life for everyone in our communities and our staff work hard to deliver the very best care for the people who use our services. We’re really proud of our #PennineCarePeople and do everything we can to make sure we’re a great place to work.
