It is a strong, vibrant and well-established area of school with music being popular right throughout the year groups. In a small school with circa 700 on roll, options numbers over time, are well above the national average at around twenty students per year group.
Could you be the person that takes it to takes Music to another dimension at BPA? We want music to be the beating heart of our school, from mass participation, musical and academic excellence, the cultural education it gives young people to celebrating the universal joy that music brings. Can you be the music role model that our students look up to and thrive under? Have you got the skills to educate our young people so that they understand that a high-quality music education makes an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the nation? If so, read on.
Over the last two years that has been significant investment, especially music technology. There is a dedicated suite of Apple (Macs) which have the Logic Pro software. The classroom keyboards have been upgraded in 2024 with two working sets in the department.
Burscough Priory Academy joined the Endeavour Learning Trust in September 2018 and has thrived as part of a successful family of schools. Our students are hardworking, enthusiastic and keen to work with the staff to get the very best out of every day at school. Since 2018, there has been rapid and sustained improvement, recognised by Ofsted in November 2022 when were judged a ‘Good’ school. Our staff are wholly optimistic, completely committed and work as one in the spirit of E Pluribus Unum.
On behalf of our staff, we are firmly committed to ensuring this is a job that can be enjoyed, where everyone can flourish because we pay close attention to work/home balance. Across the Trust, we continue to develop strategies that take a common-sense approach to those aspects of the role that could become an unnecessary burden on workload - these include feedback, marking and centralised detentions.
In our schools we have a relentless focus on excellence, expect the highest standards of behaviour but we have a pragmatic emphasis on the balance between challenge and support, high expectation and nurture. And this counts for students and staff, teaching and non-teaching, so that our schools develop a family ethos, where everyone wants the best for everyone else.
In our team, our teachers are committed to continuously improving the classroom experience of our students with a genuine desire to improve their life chances.
