Bakery Production Assistant **Immediate Start**: Yes** 20 hours per week - shifts 9am -2pm (including saturdays on a rota basis) **Job Summary**: As a Bakery Assistant at Blackwells Bakery, you will play an integral role in supporting the Bakery Manager and the bakery team in various aspects of bakery operations. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation of bakery products, maintaining quality standards, and providing excellent customer service. You will work closely with the Bakery Manager and the team to ensure the bakery department's success. **Key Responsibilities**: 1. **Bakery Production**: Assist in the preparation, baking, and packaging of bakery products, ensuring that quality and consistency are maintained in every item. 2. **Quality Assurance**: Support the Bakery Manager in upholding high-quality standards for all bakery products, contributing to the bakery's reputation for excellence. 3. **Compliance**: Stay informed about food production regulations, including food safety, allergen advice, and relevant legislation, and ensure that all safety and compliance standards are met. 4. **Collaboration**: Work with other departments to supply baked goods for various outlets, such as vans, deli counters, and takeaway. 5. **Supplier Relations**: Support the Bakery Manager in maintaining good relationships with suppliers and helping with ordering processes. 6. **Cleanliness**: Contribute to the cleanliness and organisation of the bakery workspace, ensuring work areas are tidy and meet hygiene standards. 7. **Administrative Tasks**: Complete necessary paperwork and tasks as assigned by the Bakery Manager, ensuring records are kept up to date. 8. **Physical Demands**: This role may involve physically demanding tasks, so maintaining fitness and health is essential. 9. **Team Collaboration**: Actively participate as a member of the bakery team, fostering teamwork and cooperation with colleagues across the business. 10. **Adaptability**: Be flexible and ready to take on additional duties as needed to support the growth and success of Blackwells. **Desirable Skills and Aptitude**: - Strong communication skills. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy bakery environment. - A positive and proactive "can do" attitude. - Basic understanding of bakery preparation and safety standards. - Willingness to learn and take direction from the Bakery Manager. - Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritise tasks effectively. **Job Types**: Temporary contract, Temp to perm Pay: £10.45 per hour **Benefits**: - Company events - Company pension - Discounted or free food Schedule: - Day shift - Weekend availability **Experience**: - Food handling: 2 years (preferred) Work Location: In person
