London wide Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT) for CBT High Intensity Therapists

Psychological therapy services across London are recruiting CBT High Intensity Trainees as part of the IAPT programme. These services deliver evidence based psychological therapies for people with anxiety and depression.

Are you an experienced mental health professional or social care worker with a recognised professional qualification working in a mental health setting? Have you considered training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and getting paid to do it?

The training programme consists of three days working within Talking Therapies Barking & Dagenham IAPT service and two days at university taught by experts in the field. Each training place involves being employed by a service for the length of the training contract. Contracts of employment will be at a Band 6 and fixed-term for one year whilst training.

Royal Holloway University will provide the training and this higher education institution (HEI) has been selected based on their ability to demonstrate the capacity, knowledge and expertise to deliver the curriculum that has been developed for each training course.Due to the pandemic, Talking Therapies Barking & Dagenham are also currently working a combination of remote and from the base.

COVID-19 Vaccination

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum pro rata).

Clinical
1. Provide assessment/risk assessment and HI interventions with a non -complex presentation.
2. Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have commonplace mental health problems and who are over 18 years of age
3. To provide a service that is equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.
4. Support GPs and other primary care workers in making appropriate referrals and in carrying out the mental health aspects of their own roles.
5. Make appropriate referrals to other service providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors and redirect patients to other sources of appropriate support within the local community as required.
6. Develop a ‘local knowledge’ of the locality and its services and facilities, particularly in relation to mental health issues.
7. Liaise as appropriate with secondary care mental health services and social service departments.
