**Salary**:£21,575 - £24,920 (pro rata and dependent on qualifications) reviewed after 3-month probationary period
**Job type**:Permanent, Full-time - 35 or 37.5 hours per week (pro-rata term time)
J.A.M.E.S. is a specialist provider of training in the motor vehicle sector and Independent school regulated by OFSTED. Operating across Bradford District, each year we manage the education and training for around 40 students with individual time tables.We provide a varied curriculum that includes Personal and Social Development, Functional Maths, English and ICT, Prince's Trust, RE, PE and Science.
We have a team consisting of Motor vehicle staff, Boat/Barge skippers, youth workers and a teacher supported by the Operations Managers/Principal.
**The Role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join JAMES in Bradford as a Project Worker, working with young people who attend our independent school.
JAMES have delivered alternative and engaging projects to young people for over 35 years in Bradford and we have had an Independent School at Frizinghall since 2014.
We are looking for a highly motived and enthusiastic Project Worker to work with individuals referred to the school. Most young people at JAMES have struggled in a mainstream setting and attend with us due to various barriers to their learning.
**Prime Objectives, duties and commitments of the post**:
- To deliver learning for all students through; managing courses/schemes of work, learning programmes and assessment, and by contributing to pastoral systems and curriculum innovation, development and implementation
- Support our students to overcome barriers to their learning and engagement and engage with them building up strong professional boundaries that help settle students to learn
- Understand and support students with Educational Health care plans to meet needs
- Liaise with schools, professionals, partners and parents to support our young people
- Deliver Entry to Level 2 Functional Skills, Prince's Trust and ASDAN.
- Deliver and support the delivery of all curriculum aspects such as RE, Science, PE, PSD.
- To assist in the development of the existing courses
- To assist the day-to-day activities of the classroom
- Undertake the duties associated with JAMES learning programmes with regard to; preparation, delivery and assessment
- Complete all reports, plans, timesheets/time tables and other documentation needed to evidence the programme and the work undertaken
- To deliver and develop new activities including risk assessments
- Be flexible in your working hours where the programme requires
- Attend an induction, all relevant training, all team meetings, supervisions and staff meetings
- Provide assistance and support in other project elements as required
- Support JAMES young people to raise their attainment and aspirations and move on to positive pathways
- Evidence the progression and attainment of all JAMES service users
- Attend development meetings and training as required
- Utilise the challenging environments which JAMES specialises in to create a unique offer to vulnerable learners in the district
- Participate in marketing and promotional activities when appropriate
- Assist with enrolment duties, registrations, examinations and initial assessments
- Assist with support students with additional learning and/or additional social needs
- Adhere to JAMES policies and guidelines including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Disciplinary Procedures and Guidelines
You will be able to communicate well with our young people, motivate them, work in a small team within the wider JAMES team and be able to link with other professionals and parents in order to support our young people to achieve their potential and movetowards a positive future. You will be passionate about young people and knowledgeable about the barriers and needs they may have as individuals.
