Transport Clerk

Workchain are working alongside one of the biggest third-party logistics and supply chain solutions provider in the UK and Ireland. Who are looking for a transport clerk to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This role will be to execute anddevelop the most cost effective and efficient transport plan for the operation which will meet with customer collection schedules.

**What is included in the role?**
- Reporting to the transport supervisor
- Utilizing the transport management system to ensure the scheduling of vehicles is carried out effectively and efficiently to achieve the optimum transport plan.
- Produce a daily transport plan that is both practical and achievable ensuring mínimal cost and maximum profitability.
- Plan to ensure that customer service criteria requirements are always met.
- Managing driver’s hours and infringements.
- Daily execution of the plan, ensuring all collections are made on time in full.
- Managing and controlling sub-contraction requirement.
- Ensure that the plan is clearly communicated to all necessary parties and maintain regular contact with both internal and external customers.
- Liaise very closely with the warehouse teams to achieve the most effective loading schedule.
- Liaise with other Wincanton sites to ensure optimum operating efficiently across Wincanton network.

**Skills required for the role-**
- Experience of working in or alongside a Transport Team.
- Analytical skills.
- Good general PC skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Good knowledge of driver’s hours and WTD.
- Able to work under pressure in a time critical environment.
- Ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external customers.
- Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible in approach.
- Working knowledge of WMS & Ortec (TMS) would be advantageous although full training will be given.
- Will include an element of weekend working.

**Hours-**
- Monday to Friday
- Rotational shifts
- 9 hour shifts
- 06:00am - 15:00pm AND 13:00pm until 22:00pm OR 14:00pm until 23:00pm.
