Pertemps Reading are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a reputable client, based in Reading.
As a Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for taking a lead role in the maintenance and repair of all plant machinery and equipment. Technical support and drive innovation will be provided. The post holder will provide technical support for new andexisting equipment, oversee, and advise on the installation of equipment and is also responsible for all facility maintenance. All maintenance activities must be carried out in line with the company health and safety procedures.
Main Duties for this Maintenance Engineer role will be:
- With the existing maintenance team, drive the maintenance plan & program for Reading AST plant to meet operational requirements.
- Plan PM's, rectify processing breakdowns and follow inspection routines according to SOP and schedule.
- Ensure that all records of repair are documented.
- Repair, prioritise and assign all corrective and improvement maintenance activities.
- Oversee the rolling out of site-specific Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) project
- Support the control of contractors ensuring contractor documents (RAMS) meet the business requirements.
- Liaise with contractors for the maintenance and repairs of plant equipment such as conveyors, motors, pumps, etc.
- To liaise with operators and rectify potential issues that may lead to failure to minimise and prevent breakdowns.
- Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts using the appropriate tools.
- The alignment and adjustment of equipment according to specifications.
- Develop continuous improvement (CI) and support the delivery of training
- Liaise with colleagues and other departments to enhance efficiencies.
- Adhere to site and corporate policies and procedures relating to health, safety and quality
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain competitive quotations for parts to maintain plant equipment and effectiveness.
- Provide technical support for new and existing machinery.
- Develop a Kanban system to support equipment spare parts inventory
- Perform site Weekly and Monthly Maintenance and H&S checks.
Role's requirements
Essential:
- To have a minimum of 3 years' experience working within a maintenance environment.
- Hold current electrical and/or mechanical qualification
- Strong engineering background
- High degree of pragmatic intellect
- Root cause analysis/problem solving experience
- IT literate with Microsoft Office
- Strong ability to plan and prioritise workload
- Experience of working with contractors in line with site policies
Desirable:
- Health & Safety qualification
- Working experience of lean
- PLC logic programming experience.
Required skills for a successful Maintenance Engineer:
- Must be motivated and driven
- Have excellent verbal and written communication
- Be an effective decision maker; able to demonstrate good judgment in order to resolve problems
- Must have excellent attention to detail.
- High degree of computer literacy
- Must have good planning and organisational skills.
Weekly rota: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 Shift. Outcall allowance - every 3 weeks
