Cover Supervisor - Southampton

About the role

You will be responsible for and organise cover for absent staff, ensuring lessons are covered on a daily basis and to lead our team of cover staff. You will receive training provided by the school and Engage Education and will be a part of a close and dynamicteam. This role has very little planning and marking. This is a good school that is supported by its local community and strives to ensure all students reach their academic and personal potential. Key responsibilities include:

- To operate, manage and organise cover on a daily basis to ensure lessons are covered for absent teachers as required, liaising with the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Cover on a regular basis.
- To be responsible for the line management of the Cover Supervisor team.
- To cover lessons when required.
- To maintain a regular dialogue with the HR Manager in respect of staff absence to ensure that internal and BET absence reporting in relation to staff absence are accurate.
- To be responsible for signing in and ID checks for all external supply, providing SIMS and network access as and when required, and to ensure time sheets are accessed, authorised and submitted for payment.
- To monitor and review supply costs providing the Assistant Headteacher/Headteacher with expenditure reports termly, ensuring best value.
- To assist with the organisation and administration of some whole school events including ERA week and to liaise with trip leaders and the EVC to ensure staffing, including first aid cover, is within trip regulations.
- To maintain training records for teachers and support staff, liaising with the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for CPD.
- To be responsible for promoting your own professional development through training.
- To carry out any other reasonable task at the request of the Headteacher/Assistant Headteacher.
