Clinical Research Fellow

**The Opportunity**:
**Clinical Research Fellow in Type 1 Diabetes investigating a drug therapy aimed at counteracting hypoglycaemia.**

This post is full-time (40 hours per week) and fixed term for 30 months. The post is available until 30 th June 2027.

An Honorary NHS contract will be sought for the successful post holder. You therefore must be eligible to hold an honorary contract with NHS Lothian, and must also be registered with the General Medical Council

Salary will be determined on the basis of previous service in the NHS training grades. Normally you will be matched to your current incremental point or nearest equivalent. If you are currently a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and are employed in a clinical post it may be possible for you to remain a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Medical qualification & MRCP with right to practice in the UK
- Specialty training in Diabetes & Endocrinology
- Strong interest in clinical research with an aim for MDEffective communicator and team worker with good organisational skills and an ability to make autonomous clinical decisions

The BHF Centre for Research Excellence, is a world-leading centre of excellence that integrates discovery, translational and clinical research within the domains of cardiovascular, diabetes and neuroscience to transform the diagnosis, treatment and management of people affected by diseases of these systems.

We are working with local, national and international partners and funders to develop solutions to our research challenges with regional and global impact.

Research in the CVS is investigator-led. The Centre has 60 principal investigators leading research across a number of themes: Metabolism Obesity & Diabetes (MOD), Hypertension & Renal (HART), Cardio-metabolic Imaging (CINEMA), Coronary & Valvular Heart Disease and neuroscience.

The technologies employed span basic molecular and cell biology, to model organisms (flies, fish, rodents), to clinical trials. The ethos is that whatever their background, investigators can use our network of collaboration and training to deliver fundamental discoveries and implement them in translational research.
