The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Engineer role is vital to the effective/efficient running of our flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will be joining a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment, which will have an increasingly important role as we face the challenge of global climate change.
The role is responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards. It will also be responsible for monitoring the quality and advising on the requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements, spreading across the geographic areas covering a diverse range of assets.
You will be working closely with external contractors to develop support us becoming a world class asset management organisation. You will provide technical instructions to ensure those involved with electrical and mechanical works comply with statutory legislation, British and European standards, Environment Agency’s codes of practices and procedures.The team
Our Supra-Area MEICA team is a multi-skilled, specialised group of MEICA engineers and support staff. We cover the Environment Agency's East and West Midlands Operational areas. You will report to the MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activities. You will provide technical support and be responsible for liaising with Business Partners and leading on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader. When trained, you will participate in our incident response roster.Experience/skills required
Required:
Proficient knowledge of MEICA related statutory legislation, British and European standards especially relating to industrial electrical systems
Ability to use computerised asset management system for maintenance planning and work order creation
Motivated self-starter, able to work independently and as a team often remotely as part of a dispersed team
Outcome focussed. You’ll need to demonstrate you can manage electrical tasks competently
Educated to degree level or equivalent vocational experience in an electrical discipline
Technical Leadership and ability to influence/articulate technical electrical problems to nontechnical individuals
Understanding of health and safety legislation that’s used within the electrical industry, CDM 2015 and general health and safety awareness
Writing/reviewing technical specifications and contract scoping
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
High Voltage Experience
Educated to BEng in Electrical Engineering
Asset management
Professionally recognised electrical engineer holding Chartered status with the IMechE or IET.Contact and additional information

The office base location(s) are Nottingham or Lichfield.
The hybrid working requirements are 30% Home Working, 50% operational sites 20% office. Regular travel between operational sites within the Midlands Area will be required, occasional National travel will be required for training/meetings.
