**Key Tasks as Subject lead**:
- To work with the SLT to ensure that there is good quality and consistency of English teaching, curriculum delivery and pupil progress in English within the school
- Continuously develop the school’s English curriculum, ensuring it is broad and rich and builds towards cumulative sufficient knowledge
- Develop cross curricular and cultural links
- Contribute action-planning in English for the School Development Plan
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of best practice and pedagogy
**Key Tasks as Teacher**:
- To plan and teach high quality lessons to support pupils in making good or outstanding progress
- To set clear targets for pupils’ learning, building on prior attainment and considering each pupil as an individual
- To have regard, and plan to meet, the special educational needs of pupils
- To assess pupil work and progress giving regular feedback in line with school policy
- To report on pupil progress in line with school policy and to ensure that pupils are thoroughly prepared for examinations
- To maintain a stimulating, engaging and safe learning environment, managing behaviour in line with school policy
- To undertake a pastoral and support role as required
- To attend school events as required
- To contribute to the wider life of the school, including whole-school routines, paperwork and duties
- To take responsibility for your own professional development and engage with performance management activities
