Warehouse Team Leader

Spicers is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of black, green and speciality tea and fruit and herb infusions. Spicers is now the chosen supplier of some of the largest UK supermarkets at the same time offering a broad portfolio of well-known branded teas.

We are looking to recruit a Warehouse Team Leader which will involve working a 2 shift rotating pattern, a week of 0630-1430 and then the second week 1430-2300 with an early finish on a Friday. This role will be based in North Shields.

The Team Leader will provide support to the Warehouse and Logistics Manager in the day to day running of the business.

This includes the control and motivation of staff, the supervision of the flow of goods from and to stock and control of the inventory until they are placed on the delivery vehicles.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**People**
- Maintain and improve the safety, legality and quality of products manufactured in accordance with food safety and quality policy.
- Co-ordination, organisation, administration and supervision of staff and shift patterns.
- Support the Warehouse / Blending Manager in ensuring that all warehouse colleagues are kept up to date with site targets, performance and initiatives and fully understand how they can contribute to the team’s success.
- To support the Management Team to lead, motivate and inspire the warehouse team
- Working with the Management Team to develop and maintain a high performing work culture throughout the Warehouse structure utilising effective coaching techniques to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours of the team.
- Effective administration of time keeping, holiday and absence.
- To conduct timely and effective investigations in line with disciplinary procedures. In conjunction with the HR and Warehouse / Blending Manager, ensure all colleagues are trained to the highest standards including refresher training.

**Operations**
- Liaison with the Warehouse / Blending Manager to ensure the smooth flow through of stock and deliveries are complete and on time.
- Supervision and control of the order picking/goods in/ goods out operations to ensure their accuracy with the minimum of handling damage.
- Supervision and control of cycle counts irrespective of the increase or decrease in volumes.
- Supervision of stock movements from block stacking and rack locations to ensure they are recorded accurately and are presentable for inventory integrity.
- To liaise regularly with the management team and the other departments with regard to delivery arrangements.
- To liaise with the Planning, Logistics, Sales Teams and suppliers with regard to requirements and Loading / unloading /picking schedules to ensure that deliver our promises to our customers
- Organising all shipments for customer deliveries
- Process Material transfers and book in deliveries for requested day on line or by phone
- Ensure all customer deliveries are booked correctly and that stocks /shipments arrive when arranged
- Resolve any arising problems or complaints. Deal with any delivery issues/discrepancies, report on issues /failures to meet customer demand and investigate to conclusion the reason. Recommend improvements to remove issues

**Compliance**
- To ensure that the team are working in line with all company policies and procedures.
- Lead a culture of safety across the site ensuring that steps are proactively taken to ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements, both by members of the Warehouse team and all contractors or other personnel working on site or under your control.
- Ensure all admin and control processes are rigorously adhered to in order to maintain security of stock, vehicles, equipment and premises.
- To support in the delivery of exceptional standards and disciplines throughout the site.
- Demonstrate a structured management approach ensuring maximum impact on performance is achieved.
- Where appropriate, lead investigations into audit, stock management and employee relations issues.

**General**

- Warehousing experience is essential ideally in the food and drink industry.
