**Job summary**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic RN/ODP who would like to take on the challenge of a new Band 6 team leader role for Maternity Theatres at the Musgrove Park Hospital site of Somerset Foundation Trust. This role will be within the General theatre leadership team and line managed by the General Theatre Clinical manager.

The post holder should have experience of working with in maternity theatre and work either as Registered anaesthetics and /or scrub practitioner.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day leadership of both the theatre and the newly refurbished procedure room in the maternity unit. Currently both elective and emergency maternity procedures including Caesarean Sections are performed in the same theatre leading to inefficiencies within the elective Caesarean section list, the newly refurbished procedure room will enable the service to run an elective section list up to 5 mornings a week independently of the emergency Caesarean providing a safer environment and better patient experience. The post holder will be an integral part of this change in practice and would benefit from experience in Quality Improvement.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Roles and responsibilities

This role is highly clinical and will provide:

- visible clinical leadership in the Maternity theatre setting
- A clinically safe environment for patients including the recommendations of NatSSIPs 2 and the associated 8 steps to safer surgery.
- Teaching and mentoring of students and the Maternity theatre team
- Clinical responsibility for both the theatre and procedure room
- Co ordination of the activity within both the theatre and procedure room in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary team.
- Training and sign off for Cell Salvage provision
