**Responsibilities**:

- Perform in-depth linguistic analyses on extensive datasets.
- Conduct linguistic error analysis of AI model outputs, identifying frequent and severe error categories.
- Develop and refine guidelines for human annotation and translation projects.
- Conduct typological and sociolinguistic research across numerous languages, emphasizing their unique characteristics and commonalities.
- Analyse linguistic data for Responsible AI, addressing issues such as toxic language, hate speech, and cultural biases in multilingual contexts.
- Conduct literature reviews on NLP-related topics and summarize key findings.
- Evaluate vendor deliveries for quality and consistency, providing actionable feedback.
- Provide expertise on various aspects of linguistic knowledge to inform project development.
- Collaborate with native speakers in diverse languages and communicate linguistic analysis results to technical teams.

**Skills**:

- Native or near-native proficiency (CEFRL C2) in a language other than English is essential.
- Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous, especially low-resource or under-represented languages.
- Proficient in Python for coding and SQL for database querying; familiarity with other data analysis languages (e.g., R) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with international language-classification standards is preferred.
- Previous involvement in research papers or projects involving machine learning, NLP, or software engineering is advantageous.
- Firm grasp of linguistic fields including language typology, syntax, morphology, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, writing systems, pragmatics, and phonology.
- Some experience with basic Natural Language Processing techniques is expected.
