Senior Care Assistant

**Whitehaven Care Home** **- Senior Care Assistant - 40 hours per week**

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will support the running of the shift and show warmth and support to our residents and their families; helping to promote independence and dignity and positively enhancing the lives of individuals in our care.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- Help to ensure that all junior and domestic staff contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere.
- Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toilet, be informed about all residents in the home, ensure that all information is correct and up to date.
- Carry out medication administration, ensure that stock levels are correct. Liaise with the Pharmacist attached to GP surgery.
- Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment, make referrals when necessary.
- Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of the residents through talking to them, taking them out, and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
- Oversee the keyworker’s care plan monthly responsibilities and ensure that all information is relevant and up to date. Life story books to be completed six months after admission.
- Liaise with GP and other multi-disciplinary agencies.
- Allocate staff member to support new admissions and to complete key worker paperwork.
- Assist residents at mealtimes if required.
- Answer emergency bells, the door, and the telephone; greet visitors. Be proactive and available to show perspective clients and relatives around the home at any time, take the lead.
- Read and write reports on computer held notes. Handover’s must be informative, and allocation of duties must be distributed. Check diary for information and act on necessary requirements, log, and sign information.
- Take part in staff meetings and in training activities as directed.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as may be required.

COVID-19 considerations:
All Staff are required to participate in Covid-19 testing twice weekly and follow Government guidelines for safe working practices. All staff members must be double vaccinated to work at Whitehaven Care Home

**Experience**:

- providing care: 4 years (preferred)
- supervisory: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

- Driving License (preferred)
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (required)
