**The Quality & Technical has a fantastic 6 month fixed term opportunity to join the team as a Food Technologist within the Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dairy and Eggs category**

**What’s the role about?**

This exciting role is responsible for the technical management of a defined range of new and existing Waitrose products and their manufacture (at external manufacturers) to ensure the quality, safety, legality and relevant brand standards and provenance of those products and their components. You will ensure the product safety, quality, legality and integrity are maintained throughout the supply chain and branch operation.

It is critical you are a decisive and motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal, investigative and analytical skills coupled with a desire for continual learning and development. You must have the ability to work effectively across many levels of an organisation, with effective communication and influencing skills both internally and externally. You must be comfortable working in a matrix way across the boundaries of hard-line reporting is crucial.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Working with dotted lines and Shared KPIs to ensure Category Pod (Buying, Brand Development, Space and Value and Supply Chain) delivers its Indirect Shared KPIs in line with Waitrose Technical and relevant brand standards
- Manage technical elements of New Product Development (NPD) programmes and Product Tender programmes for the category alongside other Technical, Buying and Brand Development functions.
- Identify product or supplier risks within the direct Buying area and develop plans to mitigate.
- Manage product and supplier performance in order to ensure safety, legality and quality is delivered in line with Waitrose Technical and standards.
- Create technical improvement plans (identifying poor suppliers, measure and define actions manage to satisfactory conclusion) and lead investigations on quality safety ethical non compliance
- Onboarding new suppliers in line with Waitrose Technical standards.
- Accurate supplier and site information and product information in place on Waitrose Product Pathway and specifications in place to required standards.
- In collaboration with Regulatory, Policy & Compliance and other relevant teams, contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate technical, legal and brand strategies

**What you’ll have**
- HACCP training, Lead Assessor
- Specialist training e.g allergens, microbiology, pesticide management, cosmetics regulations, specification management and product labelling legal requirements
- Foundation level technical management experience within the food or non food industry
- Supplier management and technical development
- Driving licence
