Please note this is a front of house reception role not a nursing or student nursing role.
We're looking for someone passionate about client care to join our front of house team to provide exceptional customer service at our fast paced busy veterinary practice and supporting branches, you will report to the Head Receptionist and work collaboratively with other team members, clients and colleagues to meet the needs of patients and their families throughout the client and patient journey.
The hours are 40.5 hours per week at our Pontefract surgery, Monday to Friday. One in four weekends working Saturday and Sunday (8-6pm) every four weeks either at our Brindley Way Hospital or Castleford Surgery.
Shift patterns will include early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays.
You will be expected to work at any of our branch sites for sickness and holiday cover which are: Brindley Way Hospital - Wakefield, Alverthorpe, Wakefield Northgate, Middleton, Castleford, Normanton, Pontefract and Great Houghton so flexibility and travel is essential in this role.

You will have attention to detail and pride in your place of work as looking after our branches and ensuring they are clinically clean and sterile and smelling and looking great is important for us and our clients and their pets.
Responsibilites:
- Welcome clients, patients & visitors to the practice focusing on empathy and exceptional customer care
- Ensure client areas such as waiting room, consultation rooms, bathrooms and car park are always immaculate whilst also maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the practice.
- Contact for incoming calls, demonstrating a friendly, empathetic and helpful manner, Directing calls appropriately and efficiently
- Proactively booking appointments and operations for clients according to practice policies
- Proactively contacting clients for follow up care calls, for example missed appointments, vaccinations due, pet health club follows ups etc
- To ensure provision of required documentation prior to consultations i.e. client histories
- Ensure clients receive correct medication prescribed and understand how and when to use this
- Receiving payments from clients in accordance with Practice policy
- Follow practice general data protection policies, ensuring documents are stored in a secure and safe manner
- Proactively introducing clients to Petplan pet insurance
- Follow practice insurance policies ensuring relevant paperwork is completed and documented within the PMS
- Ensure laboratory samples are packaged and stored for collection in accordance with procedures
- To audit and maintain patient records and update client communications within the PMS
- Proactive advocate of pet health club, ensuring introductions and demonstrating strong knowledge of benefits of preventative health care
- Liaise with the stock administrator to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained
- Process client requests for repeat medication / food supplies in accordance with Practice policy
- Direct deliveries to the appropriate department and process delivery notes.
- Accurate cashing up and reconciliation according to practice procedure
- Report faults with equipment, surgical instruments and ancillary equipment to senior members of the team
- Collation and submission of facility audits
- Manual handling of patients
- Support the senior management team to grow the business ethically, sustainably and profitably
- Additional adhoc duties as necessary
- Cover other roles or shifts during times of sickness / annual leave which may be at short notice

**Salary**: Up to £11.44 per hour.

**Experience**:
- Customer Service: 3 years (preferred)
- Veterinary Receptionist: 1 year (preferred)
