**The role**:
The Lighthouse is part of Warrington council’s edge of care service that works with young people and their families to help them stay together. Part of the service is a 6-bed children’s home where young people come to stay following family crisis, while an onward plan is made for them, whether that be returning to live with family, or being supported to explore foster care or supported accommodation. The other part is an outreach service that does direct work with families on the edge of care to support them to stay together and their young person to remain living at home.

Our staff are a highly skilled and child-focussed team who work directly with young people and families on the edge of care. It is a dual role with shifts in the residential home as well as a case load of families to support through outreach. The portfolio leads work residential shifts in the children’s home to support them while they are away from family, and to ensure that all the young people are well looked after and thriving in every area. The role involves taking young people out on activities, supporting them with learning life skills such as cooking, and looking after them the way a parent would, as well as taking a senior leadership role in mentoring and supervising staff and shift leading. Each portfolio lead has a lead area that they are supported to become an expert in, to take a lead across the staff team in either health, education, activities, relationships, risk or transitions. These lead areas are also across the outreach service for our families and young people as well.

We are looking for a portfolio lead to join the team on a fixed term to cover maternity leave. This will be a great way for workers who have outreach or residential experience to develop into a more senior role, it is a flexible role with residential shifts on a rota that includes evenings and weekends and sleeps at enhanced rates as well.

DBS clearance is required.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
