**Food Coordinator**
**Job Summary**:
As a Food Coordinator, you will work from our Gategroup Gatwick Unit as an important member of the team and support the team of Commis Chefs and Chef de Parties in the preparation and cooking of delicious in-flight meals as well as preparing and conduction Customer Presentations as required. Working to tight timelines, you will communicate effectively with the kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared to exact specifications and quantities and that the work area is kept safe and as clean as possible while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and health and safety at all times.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Experience working under pressure and in a high-volume kitchen, preferably experienced in fresh food.
- Competent understanding of all regulations, food hygiene and company specifications.
- A genuine passion for delivering top quality dishes
- An excellent team player with exceptional communication skills
- Reads and interprets recipes whilst seeking guidance from Chefs as required
- Packing and labelling of hot meals ready to serve
- Adheres to HACCP and regional safety regulations in compliance with gategroup policies and procedures.
- Responsible for safe and clean workstation and equipment always.
- Controls food compliance and quality - understanding of kitchen disciplines and food safety (training given)
- Use of company technology (iPads and printers for food labels)
- Supports other associated kitchen and fridge tasks as necessary
- Supports General Assistants and by leading as example
- Basic knife skills
**Qualification and Education**
- ** Education**:
- Educated to GSE or ‘O’ levels;
- Basic Food hygiene training/certification is desirable
- A recognised City & Guilds qualification or NVQ Level 2 for a Chef is desirable
- Work Experience:
- Some relevant experience of volume cooking in a hotel/restaurant/airline environment is desirable but not essential
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment using own initiative
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Accurate/detailed focused
