**Job summary**
The Linden Medical Group is seeking to further expand our fabulous reception team.
We are looking to recruit an experienced, efficient, enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible and well organised Medical Receptionist.
The working hours are between 20 -30 hours per week.
This is an extremely busy role which requires hard work, the ability to multi task, to deal with multiple different demands on your time, a good sense of humour, the ability to fit in with an established, friendly, team, the ability to prioritise to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner, excellent customer service skills and a smart, professional appearance.
The working pattern will be shifts. The shifts will be discussed and confirmed with the successful applicant at the job offer stage.
We would be happy to hear from applicants who wish to work AM shifts, PM shifts or full days within the weekly range of hours offered.
Previous experience working in a GP surgery or in a similar NHS environment would be highly desirable and priority will go to those who can evidence their experience in a similar role.

Experience of the SystmOne clinical system would be highly desirable, however, training can be provided for the right applicant.

Salary is dependent on experience and is reviewed at the end of the probationary period and annually thereafter.

The Linden Medical Group is a very busy, friendly, dynamic and supportive practice comprising of 5 GP partners & 1 salaried GP who are supported by a Practice Manager, Practice Supervisor, Triage nurse, 2 Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant and a team of Medical Secretaries, Administrators and Receptionists.
We are a training practice and frequently have medical students working with us. We also have the support of attached staff comprising of a Physiotherapist, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescriber & Mental Health Practitioner.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**JOB TITLE: MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST**
**REPORTS TO: PRACTICE SUPERVISOR**
**ACCOUNTABLE TO: PRACTICE MANAGER**
**Job Summary**:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Additional responsibilities include maintaining paper and computerised records, ordering supplies and typing of letters when other members of staff are away.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients any other visitors to the practice
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
- Using your own judgement and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed
- Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
- Issue authorised repeat prescriptions, preparing a prescription form and recording details in the notes if necessary, referring queries about prescriptions to the doctor and ensuring that follow-up action is taken to resolve the matter. Uncollected prescriptions should be referred to the doctor.
- Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
- Prepare lists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion of all associated paperwork
- Process appointment requests for today & future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
- Enter requests for home visits into the system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor
- Registrations of new patients on to the system
- Process patients change of address computer data and medical records bearing in mind the practice catchment area.
- To update our computer database when required.
