My client is a specialist manufacturer within the Rail industry. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in South London on a permanent basis.
**The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes**:

- HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 5 or more years’ of industry experience working in similar Mechanical role
- Ideally be experienced in the Rail industry - knowledge of vehicles and their assets
- Industry knowledge from Mobility such as Rail & Marine to Power and Oil & Gas sectors
- Excellent proficiency with CAD software - ideally SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Inventor or similar
- Proven ability to drive Engineering development
- Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials - sheet metal, castings, machining etc.
- The ability to understand system requirements
- Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written

**The Senior Mechanical Engineer role will involve**:

- Working within the R&D multi-disciplinary team
- Leading client projects to convert ideas into designs
- Working on new product concepts
- Perform development activities and find new mechanical solutions
- Being involved in the product design and development process using CAD
- Working with high precision instrumentation products
- Modelling, analysis and the development of mechanisms
- Involved in building and developing prototypes
- Conducting design reviews
- Producing the relevant documentation that is required
- Driving continuous improvement
