Deputy Lead for Clinical Pathways

Wakefield, United Kingdom Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Directorate for the position of Deputy Lead for Clinical Pathways. Reporting to the Lead Paramedic for Clinical Pathways (currently the Lead Clinical Pathways Manager), the post holder will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and review of clinical pathways across the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) area. In this role, you will work with teams across the organisation and with external stakeholders to support both service and clinical care changes, within established clinical governance frameworks, using project management and quality improvement methodology. This role is key to ensuring people who contact YAS for help are given the right care and support, in the right place at the right time.

Subject to discussion and agreement, there may be options for flexible and hybrid working, and base location is negotiable. Please note that you will be expected to travel within the Yorkshire region to meet with internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires current healthcare professional registration, as an in-depth understanding of clinical practice is essential, you will regularly be working with sensitive patient information, and from time-to-time may be required to work in a patient-facing capacity.

The Deputy Lead for Clinical Pathways will support the central Clinical Pathways Team in the development, monitoring and improvement of clinical pathways and referral pathways across the organisation. This will involve using and interpreting data to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, representing the team and organisation in a range of meetings and working groups, leading on specific projects or workstreams related to clinical pathways (for example, falls pathways, CPD programmes, digital initiatives, or quality improvement programmes), and providing expert support for YAS area leadership teams in the development of local referral pathways.

The post-holder will work closely with the Lead Paramedic for Clinical Pathways (currently the Lead Clinical Pathways Manager) to oversee and assure the safety and quality of clinical pathways across the Trust, including improvements to trust-wide acute pathways such as STEMI and stroke pathways.

The Deputy Lead for Clinical Pathways should be a credible clinical leader able to work on their own initiative as part of a wider team, ideally with experience of clinical pathway development, clinical education, quality improvement and project management approaches.
