**About the Role**:
As an Outdoor Education Facilitator, you’ll be based at one of our community sites in Okehampton, Honiton, Ottery, or Newton Poppleford. The role involves travel between sites and occasional learner pickups from home. You’ll work closely with a team to deliver learner-centred, personalised sessions tailored to individual needs. This mainly outdoor role supports children and young people, some with emotional or behavioural challenges, across woodland, community, and sometimes home settings, helping create safe, supportive spaces where learners can grow academically, emotionally, and socially.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Deliver personalised support aligned with individual learner plans
- Manage behaviour and contribute to assessments and risk plans
- Foster positive relationships and promote learner wellbeing
- Maintain accurate records and communicate with families and professionals
- Work flexibly across multiple sites and community settings
- Engage in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development
**What You’ll Need**:
- Excellent behaviour management and solution-focused planning skills
- Experience working with SEMH and ASD/PDA learners (primary or secondary)
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to differentiate learning and create bespoke opportunities
- Resilience to work outdoors in all weather and emotionally challenging situations
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous improvement
- 5 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake training and enhanced DBS checks
**Desirable**:
- Experience in outdoor education or Forest School settings
- Knowledge of behaviour intervention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practice
- Relevant qualifications like Forest School Leader L3, Paediatric First Aid, or Safeguarding Level 2
