Position Summary:
This role provides support in delivering animal welfare expertise to the Farming programme area, assisting with the management of animal welfare projects to achieve positive outcomes for animals. The position will work closely with the Programme Lead, Southeast Asia Project Manager, and Global Animal Welfare Advisor to support the planning and implementation of campaigns.
The role will assist in providing guidance on animal welfare matters to both global and local teams, staying updated on the latest trends and developments in animal welfare, both technically and in terms of policy. This will ensure that campaigns remain relevant and effective in influencing key decision-makers.
Additionally, the role may assist with managing relationships with external contacts and partners, and may have opportunities to represent the organization at meetings and events to support the team’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:

- Work alongside the IiO Project Manager and Programme Lead, Thailand to ensure technical capacity building on farmed animal welfare to all grantees within the IiO programme and support broader learning across the wider projects.
- Assist in providing support to grantees within the IiO programme, helping them identify research needs, deliver technical input, and provide assessments in a timely and effective manner, while working closely with other teams and staff members.
- Assist the Animal Welfare Advisor, Global campaign teams, grantees of the Investing in Others programme, and other internal stakeholders in the development and delivery of campaigns and local projects that support World Animal Protection’s strategic mission and movement goals.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners involved in animal welfare issues, as well as relevant institutions and intergovernmental organizations that support campaign.
- Assist with the development of research projects, scientific papers, written briefs, presentations, and other materials that support campaigns, providing technical input as needed.
- Support the development of practical animal welfare projects that help World Animal Protection communicate the importance of animal welfare, particularly in line with our organizational vision and strategic priorities.
- Support colleagues by helping them use expertise and evidence to develop effective strategies for engaging governments, corporations, media, and other stakeholders on wildlife issues.
- Contribute to the development of policy positions for World Animal Protection.

Able to assimilate and analyse technical information quickly and accurately to effectively inform campaign tactics. ?

Experience of advising and overseeing relationships with animal welfare organisations, such as sanctuaries or rehabilitation projects, farms and other animal venues. ?

Experience of senior level networking and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and in representing an organisation to external stakeholders. ?

Excellent communication and advocacy skills and experience of influencing key political and business stakeholders and shaping policy debates, including through the media and at external events ?

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including strong English language writing skills, with an ability to be well understood by different audiences, including academic, expert, media and the public. ?

Flexible to undertake regional travel. ?

A passion for animal welfare and a strong commitment to the aims and values of World Animal protection. ?

Robust knowledge of the animal welfare context of Southeast Asia including legislation, local organisations, priority issues and any other information relevant to the implementation of World Animal Protection's activities in the region. ?
