It is a diverse sector, providing a range of different services, all with the aim of shifting health care from acute hospital settings closer to people’s homes; moving away from reactive care to preventative care based on early interventions.
We have are looking for two dynamic, motivated and innovative Band 8a Pharmacists to join our experienced and expanding Medicines Management Team at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
You will support the Chief Pharmacist in implementing the Medicines Management Strategy in line with national and local policy and will have the opportunity to develop new skills in directorate activities including financial reporting, risk management and quality improvement.
You will be responsible for providing medicines management support to community based teams and undertake core directorate activities including:
- Writing of governance and financial reports
- Development of medicines management policies and supporting the patient group directions (PGDs) agenda
- Implementation of patient safety initiatives e.g. drug alerts, patient safety alerts
- Assuring the safe and secure handling of medicines in community services in line with CQC requirements
- Training health professionals in the community
- Management of junior pharmacists and community health services technicians
You should be flexible, plan and organise own workload as well as developing and supporting the junior staff.

To support the Chief Pharmacist in the implementation of the Medicines Management Strategy in line with national and local policy
To support on the provision of high quality prescribing information, professional advice and support to all relevant committees throughout CLCH.
To support the non-medical practitioner (NMP) prescribing and patient group directions agenda in conjunction with the Chief Pharmacist and the Quality Directorate to support safe, rational, cost effective prescribing/supply.
To devise, undertake and evaluate audit within different care and clinic settings.
To conduct and present projects and audits to review medicine use and prescribing in key areas within the Trust and to assist with the facilitation of any changes in practice required after audit.
To maintain and improve evidence based, cost effective prescribing within CLCH.
