Community Speech & Language Therapy Assistant
Part Time - 26.50 hours per week
We have an exciting new part time, permanent vacancy for an assistant to work in our friendly community Speech and Language Therapy team.
Our Community SLT team covers a wide range of specialisms including progressive neurological conditions, dementia, brain injury, neuro-oncology, dysphagia, voice and dysfluency.You will be working closely with the Speech and Language Therapists and the wider MDT, assisting our team with the assessment and management of adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. You will be supported to provide face to face or virtual individual and group therapy sessions for our service users and providing support and training for family members and carers as appropriate.
You will also be supporting the team with a range of administrative and practical tasks, including completing telephone triages, creating personalised therapy resources and developing communication aids. You will need to have good IT skills and be confident using a range of technology, as you will be supporting the team in maintaining and updating our equipment.
Our team is friendly and supportive and we are committed to regularly reviewing our service delivery, We provide regular clinical supervision, appraisals and CPD opportunities.
We have excellent liaison with the local university, hospitals and other local teams.
You will be expected to provide a high level of practical, administrative, computer and clerical support to the SLT team and maintain efficiency of our office and team by ensuring that administration and paperwork is undertaken efficiently, messages are given and received and responded to accordingly.
The post-holder will need to be confident, motivated, responsive, supportive and highly organised, with excellent spoken and written communication skills. Previous experience working within the NHS and knowledge of what an adult SLT team do would be an advantage.
You will be required to prepare and produce materials and resources using software as required and assist with team promotion and provision of accessible information
