The post holder will be part of the specialist psychological therapies service for Military Veterans in Greater Manchester and Lancashire and will provide Psychological Therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), including trauma focused CBT (tCBT). The post holder will be expected to have/develop an understanding of armed forces culture in order to meet the specific needs of the Veteran community.
The post holder will work with military veterans who have a range of complex anxiety, depression and trauma related problems.
The post holder will travel across Greater Manchester and Lancashire seeing clients in a variety of venues. Remote working equipment, including access to the web based clinical system, will be provided.
As a specialist practitioner the post holder will work closely with a range of practitioners from other Mental Health services, 3 rd Sector providers and statutory agencies such as probation and social services.
The post holder will also have opportunity to provide clinical supervision to junior clinicians i.e Assistant Psychologists; Psychological wellbeing Practitioners, Mental health & Wellbeing practitioners, substance misuse practitioners; peer support workers and volunteers.

CLINICAL DUTIES
1.1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the Military Veterans’ service.
1.2. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.
1.3. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.
1.4. Use highly developed communication skills in working with veterans to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties
1.5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service.
1.6. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
1.7. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
1.8. Complete all requirements relating to data collection and reporting within the service.
1.9. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols
1.10. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
1.11. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
1.12. Liaise with other health, social care, 3 rd sector, employment and other staff from a range of agencies involved in providing services to clients.
1.13. Contribute to a rota providing clinical duty cover in the office if requested.
