Personal Care Assistant (any gender) required to assist a person with a physical disability and various learning/developmental/cognitive disabilities living in the Lesmahagow area.

You would be required to provide one to one care and assistance within their home and in the community including with personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:

- Supporting/prompting personal care needs, such as showering and shaving or doing laundry and tidying
- Assisting with medication
- Preparing meals and healthy snacks
- Assisting with participation in physical activities, such as going for walks/out in wheelchair, and eventually working towards more ambitious goals
- Moving and assisting - pushing manual wheelchair when needed, but also prompting to rest when required
- Household shopping and collecting prescriptions
- Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living

Driver essential and you will be required to use your own vehicle - mileage allowance will be paid
- The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds._

Interests include: D&D, science and nature, socialising when able, reading, travel and learning about people and the world.

Pets in the household - you must be comfortable working with dogs in the home.

Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature, the ability and desire to listen and learn about someone else’s experiences, and a desire to work within a caring role.

Please be aware that the employer is partially mobile but this neither means that they are always unable to walk nor that they are “putting it on” when they require mobility assistance.

You must be accepting of varying gender presentation and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

**Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility)**

Recruiting for one or two positions, depending on availability.

Guaranteed permanent position of 10 hours per week but up to 23 hours per week.

**Days and times**:
Typically three to four weekdays from 12pm to 6pm are required and will be allocated (consistently) depending on individual availability.

Remaining hours may be grouped together for day trips.

Occasional weekends and evenings may be required - to be discussed at interview.

**Hourly rate**:
£12.50 per hour
