Securities Officer

We are looking for someone to come and join our Securities team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all legal documents relating to invoice finance transactions and Ultimate’s other products as needed. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation of working with new and existing clients and helping to mitigate legal risks. As we continue on our journey of multi product lending, you will also help to facilitate a deal team approach and work with a number of different product teams to co-ordinate and manage a smooth customer journey.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Create and review legal documents related to invoice financing transactions, including the offer letter and terms and conditions, security such as debentures and personal guarantees and any other additional security that maybe needed depending on the transaction.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and execution of legal documents and that they are recorded correctly on Ultimate’s internal systems, such as CRM.
- Organise and create any variations to existing facilities and security.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, sales, underwriting and operations and external clients to ensure the pay out of new facilities and amendments to existing ones.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel, as needed.
- Assist in the development and improvement of standard operating procedures and document templates to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
- Provide support and guidance to other team members on legal document and security related matters.

Participate in training programs or workshops to enhance your legal and industry knowledge and contribute towards the learning development programme of the business using your skills and knowledge.

The Securities team is part of the wider Legal and Compliance team which manages legal risk for every area of the business. Although we are a small team, we are highly visible to our colleagues and collaborate with teams from all areas of the business to help deliver the funding our customers need. You will have the chance to bring teams together by helping with deal co-ordination on transactions where we have customers taking multiple products.

You will get a chance to learn about every aspect of what we do along the way and everyone shares responsibility for making our team and the business a success. We encourage people to step out of their normal role and responsibilities and take part in wider strategic projects that go beyond just the process within our team. You will also have the opportunity to involve yourself in business wide initiatives such as our CSR Give a Day or Mental Health and Wellbeing initiatives.

You might have finished law school and be looking for that first role to give you legal experience, or, maybe you are working in a similar role at another lender or financial services business. Either way, whilst experience of invoice finance would be helpful, the most important thing is a willingness to learn and get involved with everything that goes on. Curiosity about what we do and how we do it is vital, and a key part of our learning process which helps us to be better partners with the business.

Attention to detail is key - our documents and templates are important to us and often you will be the last person to review a set of documents before a facility is completed for a client. As you get to know the business, you will appreciate that we all look out for each other and therefore if something doesn’t look right or, if you think something has been missed, it is important that you are happy to speak up and help work with others to solve the problem.

We work in a fast paced environment so the ability to stay calm under pressure whilst maintaining your focus and priorities is essential. You will also need to be an excellent communicator - the knowledge you have about the legal documents and security is complicated and you will need to be able to explain technical points so that people understand what they need to do and why.

Ideally you would be based in Bristol, or able to get to our Bristol office once a week but our team is spread out, so we will happily talk to people who live close to one of our other offices, such as Edinburgh, Leeds, Lutterworth or Manchester.
